Recent Fire Information It has been brought to the District’s attention that during the recent fires there were instances in the canyons that fire fighters accessed water from residents’ homes in an attempt to have water available to protect those homes and the immediate area surrounding the homes. Some of these residents have requested of the District reimbursement for the water used by the fire fighters to protect their homes and the surrounding area. The District does not have any ability to determine the exact amount of water used by fire personnel in these instances but is willing to consider some accommodation for reimbursement. In the event you believe water was used from your residence by fire personnel, please compare the billing for that October period of water use and compare it with the prior month’s water use and the prior year water use for the same period of time of the fires (October). In the event the billing for the period during which the fires occurred is higher than both those periods when compared separately, the District will credit your account the difference between the current month billing and the highest of these two comparison billings. The credit will be in the form of reducing the difference of the two bills to the District’s base rate rather than the accrued tiered rate. It will be necessary for your request for this reimbursement to be in writing consistent with the information on the District’s website from the District’s complaint form. Individuals interested in seeking reimbursement may use the District’s Complaint Form for this purpose. Upon receipt of the request for reimbursement, District staff will verify the information and if it is determined that a credit is due, the credit will applied to the customer account. |
