Michael Perea | Biography 

As the Interim General Manager of Trabuco Canyon Water District (“District”), Michael Perea is responsible for ensuring the delivery of water, wastewater, and recycled water services to its customers. Mr. Perea’s responsibilities include the day-to-day operation of the District, which covers the customer service, administrative and financial services, engineering, and field operations departments. He also ensures compliance with various regulatory agencies to provide safe drinking water to the District’s customers. Mr. Perea is responsible for leading and staffing the organization, and he reports directly to the District’s publicly elected Board of Directors.

The District’s Board of Directors appointed Mr. Perea as the Acting General Manager on April 30, 2018, and then as Interim General Manager on June 20, 2018. Prior to serving as the Interim General Manager, he was promoted by the Board of Directors as the Assistant General Manager on December 21, 2016. Mr. Perea has worked in the District Administration Services Department since July 2009 as the Special Projects Manager, and then as the Administrative Services Manager beginning in July 2012. Prior to 2009, Mr. Perea’s experience included working in the District’s Wastewater Operations Department, Water Distribution Department, and Customer Service Department where he started as a meter reader in August 1999. This well-rounded and varied experience has provided Mr. Perea with the opportunity to learn about each facet of our small, but complex water district to meet the needs of all of its customers.

Mr. Perea has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Cal State Fullerton. Also, Mr. Perea holds a Wastewater Operator Grade IV, Water Distribution Grade II, and Water Treatment II Certificates with the State Water Resources Control Board Office of Operator Certification.
